Thomson & Scott Launches ‘Noughty:’ Alcohol-Free, Sparkling Chardonnay

British entrepreneur, Amanda Thomson has launched the first organic, vegan alcohol-free sparkling chardonnay with almost half the sugar content of traditional alcohol-free sparkling wines.

‘Noughty’ is produced with 100% organic Chardonnay grapes, from southern Spain, and each delicious bottle is dealcoholised using a historically patented method, which avoids the need to add unnecessary sugar, making it as pure as it can be.

‘Noughty’ revolutionises the way consumers enjoy alcohol-free options and only contains 14 calories per 100ml glass.

The drink has already been praised by Tamlyn Currin – arguably one of the world’s top wine experts, as “hands down, the best alcohol-free sparkling wine I have ever tasted, and one of the best alcohol-free wines I’ve tasted overall.”

The global non-alcoholic market is anticipated to reach an estimated $1.6 trillion by 2025. Sales of non-alcoholic drinks are exploding. Millennials and Gen Zers are drinking less than older generations, in part because they live their lives online and want to retain control of their image and social standing.

“No-one is tackling the alcohol-free sector to cater to the next generation of wine drinkers who don’t want to consume alcohol. We’re the first to produce a delicious, luxe, alcohol-free sparkling Chardonnay that is also 100% organic and vegan certified. Everyone’s obsessed with what’s in their food now, but still hardly anyone considers what’s in their wine bottle,” said Amanda Thomson, CEO and Founder of Thomson & Scott

Other factors that drive the growth of the market include increased awareness amongst consumers toward proper health and well-being, as well as changing their eating lifestyles to organic, vegetarian and vegan.

Several years ago, Thomson recognised that people were becoming increasingly concerned about what was in their food, but no-one was asking what was in their wine.

Raised on a sugar-free vegetarian diet, by a single mother who thought sugar was the devil, Thomson, a big fan of Champagne, wanted to create sparkling wines that were beautifully crafted and didn’t require added sugar to mask impurities.

The company has created an entirely new sector in the drinks industry, with other brands racing to keep up. Thomson & Scott’s has a strong connection to the changing attitudes of young-minded drinkers, looking to know what’s in their glass, demanding purer wines that shun animal by-products and heaps of unnecessary sugar.

From day one, the company has had many big name fans but it doesn’t use influencers or sponsorship deals to push the brand. Instead it has built smart partnerships with like-minded pioneering brands across the food, fashion and fitness world.

Thomson & Scott is also driving the debate for greater transparency in wine production and labelling. They want consumers to push to know what’s in their wine bottle.

Amanda Thomson, the CEO and Founder of B Corp Certified Thomson & Scott, was voted one of Business Insider’s ‘Coolest People in Food & Drink 2019.’

“I recognise that alcohol is the new tobacco. We are offering consumers the chance to make a change without disrupting their desire to party. Sparkling wine is a celebration but it needn’t be alcoholic to be rock ’n’ roll,” said Amanda Thomson, CEO and Founder of Thomson & Scott.

Formerly an Arts Broadcaster at the BBC, Thomson moved her young family to Paris and studied for her Diploma in Wine at the renowned Le Cordon Bleu School where she was ‘Entrepreneur of the Year 2017’ and an EY ‘Winning Woman.’

Thomson is also now a Department of International Trade Export Champion 2019-20.
