Dashel ‘Re-Cycle’ Helmets Launch With Two New Colours

Sustainable helmet brand, Dashel – has launched two new ‘Re-Cycle’ helmet colours, as part of their new range of slim, stylish and sustainable helmets – just in time for Christmas.

Joining their core colours of black, mid-blue, sage green and red, will be Navy Blue and a Christmas 2020, limited-edition, Sky Blue colour.

The two new blue helmets come in three sizes, are priced at £79, and are available from all good cycle retailers, and on their website. They also offer children’s helmets for just £39.

Each helmet is ventilated, light-weight and super stylish. They are sold wrapped inside a handy rucksack which means that there’s no superfluous, wasteful packaging.

Not only are the helmets hand-assembled, but they also come with Dashel’s signature range of washable fit pads which wick away sweat, and are manufactured in the UK.

The brand aims to be at the forefront of the circular economy by reducing waste during the manufacturing process, and they achieve this by designing and creating products that can be kept in use for as long as possible, to ensure that when they do finally reach their end of life – they can be recycled.

When a customer is finished with a Re-Cycle helmet, the product can then be returned to Dashel and they will recycle it, ensuring that the helmet doesn’t end up in a landfill.

Founder Catherine Bedford previously worked for a wide variety of big brands, and she used to lecture on brand development at Cass Business School, but in 2012, she took the plunge and decided to launch her own business.

She explained the many factors that inspired her:

‘Cycling was really taking off in Britain that year, particularly with the Olympic success. I wanted my child to wear a helmet when cycling but I didn’t wear one myself as I felt so silly in them. I realised there was a gap in the market for something slim and understated that would work when cycling in regular clothes rather than if you were going to go racing or mountain biking.’

During lockdown, Dashel offered a free helmet to any NHS key worker for every helmet sold online and had an amazing demand, and the brand was featured on CBeebies on a programme called ‘Maddie’s Do You Know’ and Games Of Thrones star, Kit Harrington was seen wearing a Re-Cycle helmet.

Dashel has just launched their new TeamGB cycle helmets. Originally, the helmets were designed for TeamGB to use around the Olympic village in Tokyo this year and proceeds from sales to the public would go to support our athletes.

However with Covid, the helmets are being launched now, in time for Christmas, to help support the athletes in their training and to ensure that when the Olympics do take place, they are fit and ready to win.
