Plant-based Ice Cream Specialists, ‘Coconuts Organic,’ to Rebrand As ‘Cecily’s’
‘Coconuts Organic,’ the ice cream specialists (famous for their creamy plant-based tubs), have announced that they’ll be rebranding as ‘Cecily’s.’
The Cornish-based ice cream makers, who recently closed their third equity crowdfunding round early on Seedrs.com – due to exceptional demand, have redesigned their new packs to present more of their Cornish heritage, and the fact that they are a female-founded company.
“Our office is 5 minutes from the beach. We love living here in Cornwall, and see it as the spiritual home of ice cream. We’re proud to be taking Cornish ice cream into the 21st century by using sustainable, plant-based ingredients combined with the expertise of generations of Cornish ice cream makers to produce the creamiest non-dairy ice cream around.”
The brand has become famous for their ultra-creamy ice creams, selling a whopping ¼ million scoops of ice cream in the last year. Even Dragon Peter Jones declared it to be “the best he’d eaten that was free-from,” when Cecily pitched her products in The Den.
“It was always really important for me to make an ice cream that was just as close to traditional, home-made dairy ice cream as it could be, but with plant-based ingredients. Cecily’s is a totally natural ice cream made in small batches, with ingredients you can buy in your local health food shop,” explained Cecily.
With 7 Great Taste Awards, they are clearly doing something right. Cecily’s range is perfect for all: for flexitarians, vegetarians, vegans, and anyone looking for simple ways to reduce their intake of dairy and animal products.
Reducing meat and dairy is the single biggest way to reduce our environmental impact on the planet. Cecily’s have made this easy and delicious, by creating a creamy plant-based ice cream for the conscious consumer.
Cecily said: “We are constantly reminded about the need to cut down on animal products in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. But it can be so hard to know where to start. Our ice cream makes it super easy for someone to make that switch, because we’re available to buy in the supermarket and online at a mainstream price.’
Cecily’s is available in a range of different flavours, including their famous and much-loved Mint Choc – packed with natural cocoa chips, peppermint oil and a touch of spirulina for some green goodness. Their other products include: Chocolate Orange Swirl, Double Caramel, Creamy Coconut, Pure Chocolate, Pure Caramel, and Rum ’n Raisin.
Coconuts Organic (now Cecily’s) was founded in 2015 by Cecily Mills, a BBC Dragon’s Den winner and a former senior manager for Marks and Spencer’s.
Adopting a plant-based diet herself, Cecily set out on a mission to replicate the smooth, creamy luxurious taste of dairy ice cream, but in a natural, vegan-friendly version. Following a move back to her native Cornwall, and alongside having two daughters, Cecily set about making her passion for ice cream her full-time career.
2021 is set to be a landmark year for the business as Cecily’s are primed to release a variety of delicious new flavours that will take the plant-based ice cream landscape into exciting new territories – taking over supermarket freezers nationwide. The future is very much bright for this Cornish-based brand.
Cecily’s is available online, Ocado, M&S, and in other independent retailers.
