Shedid & Parrish is a hair-care brand that was created with curl and texture in mind, thanks to it’s Founder, Jessica Parrish, – who spent many years trying to find natural hair products that cared for (and styled) her curls, with little success.
As an adopted, mixed-race child, Jessica’s parents did not know how to look after her hair, nor did most salon stylists she came across, not to mention the lack of specialist, dedicated products available. These were the key drivers for her creating Shedid & Parrish in February 2021.
Jessica worked tirelessly to ensure that her product range was of salon quality, whilst using only 100% natural, vegan ingredients.
The brand name combines both her natural, and her adopted parents’ last names – representing the mixing of cultures, hair types, – and the need for the passing on of knowledge and skills. Shedid And Parish is also cruelty free, and is suitable for anyone with curls, kinks, coils, and everything in-between, and the brand uses ONLY the best ethically-sourced ingredients.
The range features six products include: the Deep Cleansing Shampoo, the Deep Restoring Conditioner, the Leave-in Conditioner, the Afro Butter, the Curl Styler, and the Curl Control Serum.
All of their products were formulated by an ethical manufacturing partner in South Africa – specifically suited for the needs of curly hair, and thanks to this, the quality and texture of the hair is also improved, as well as its’ health and strength.
The brand is dedicated to using sustainable packaging, and all of their products come in light and re-usable aluminium bottles, – with product details printed directly onto the bottle, rather than using labels.
The bottles are sold with screw caps as standard, so that bottle pumps can be reused, and further waste is avoided. Additionally, the brand is affiliated with The Children’s Society, and 10p is donated for every product purchased.
Founder Jessica Parrish explained:
“I spent so much of my life trying many different products, but failing to find ones that worked to both style and condition my hair. I wanted a natural range without a scent that could be full of good ingredients for nourishing my curls. That is why I created Shedid & Parrish – a brand that could be trusted, my own hair care range that is specifically designed to work on all curl and textured hair, and does them good.”
Prior to creating Shedid & Parish, Jessica has gained a wealth of knowledge, having had a thriving international business career spanning over 20 years in a variety of exciting roles, such as an Executive MBA from Cranfield University, a senior executive within the food and real estate sector, and being a Commercial Director at Time Out Market.
