Hackney Gelato Goes Back To Their Italian Roots With Their BRAND NEW Chocolate + Roasted Hazelnut Gelato

Hackney Gelato has gone back to their roots with their latest creation, – their BRAND NEW Chocolate + Roasted Hazelnut Gelato: a dark chocolate gelato that is rippled with roasted Piedmont hazelnuts from northern Italy, and a sprinkle of sea salt.

This new flavour is an affectionate take on the classic Italian flavour, Bacio, – and it brings together two of their most in-demand flavours: their Hazelnut Gelato (made exclusively for restaurants) is hugely popular amongst high-end chefs in the capital, and their Dark Chocolate Sorbetto is their biggest seller, and the highest-rated plant-based ice cream on Ocado.

With this in mind, it seemed like a wise idea to combine the best elements of both of these flavours into a new, ultimate blend: a rich, creamy and intensely nutty dark Chocolate + Roasted Hazelnut Gelato.

Founded by two chefs, Enrico Pavoncelli and Sam Newman in 2015, – Hackney Gelato first sold at Brick Lane’s Sunday market in London. Their slow-churned gelato and sorbetto became so popular, that Enrico and Sam were soon supplying many of London’s best restaurants.

Six years on, and Hackney Gelato has been awarded with 22 Great Taste stars, and they’ve attracted a whole host of celebrity fans, including Nigella Lawson and Jay Rayner, – and they’re now listed on the menus of various Michelin-starred venues.

Enrico and Sam said: “Bacio is a classic gelato on the menu in every gelateria in Italy. It’s indulgent and delicious. We’ve always wanted to create our own Bacio because it’s the gelato we loved most when we were kids growing up in Italy. We ate it by the bucketful when we were bambini. Our version is a little darker and richer and we love it.

Hackney Gelato makes everything by hand in small batches in their East London kitchen.
