DJ Jazzy M Has Launched His Own Ethical Clothing Brand, Called ‘Ohzone T-Shirts’

DJ Jazzy M has launched his own ethical clothing brand, called ‘Ohzone T-shirts,’ – which has been up-and-running since December 2020, and it launched as a result of lockdown: because DJ Jazzy M was unable to get his usual DJ work.

During lockdown, DJ Jazzy M (also known as ‘the UK Godfather of House’) and his partner found themselves with plenty of free time, and so they decided to put it to good use, – by expanding the Ohzone brand (which Jazzy M first created back in 1989).

The BRAND NEW t-shirt collection is the first of many new ventures launched by DJ Jazzy M, – who was formerly a resident at London’s famous (and iconic) Ministry of Sound for over 15 years. He’s always been planet-conscious, – an important and crucial element of the Ohzone brand.

Ohzone’s t-shirts were inspired by his love for music, and some of their products pay homage to the early days of House music, and DJ Jazzy M’s extensive career in the club scene. Each product is made with 100% GOTS Certified Organic cotton, which is made in factories which use renewable energy. The brand ONLY prints on demand, so there’s never any surplus. Plus, their packaging is plastic free.

Their t-shirts are also closing the loop on circular fashion: their clothing is designed to be returned when it is worn out, to be remade over and over again.

DJ Jazzy M said: “Music has been my inspiration! I don’t take myself too seriously, but I do love a good T-shirt. I love the fact that clothing can be very cool and ethical at the same time. It seems to me that there aren’t many brands that combine these things. Our designs are for all those stand up guys and downright divas out there that love cool fashion, but may not be aware that they can buy something trendy that will be good for the future of the planet too.

Each year, 100 billion items of clothing are being produced, – whilst a truck full is burned or buried in landfill every second. The call for a more sustainable fashion industry has never been louder, and the fashion industry is responsible for 10% of all greenhouse emissions. With this in mind, DJ Jazzy M decided to take matters into his hands.

As well as this, the musician has also partnered up with global marketplace, Redbubble, – to create arty items such as notebooks, mugs and framed art prints.

DJ Jazzy M is best known for having worked with many of the great stars of our time, such as: Paul Weller and Janet Jackson. And, he’s had many labels, including: OhZone Recordings, Red Giant Recordings, Delphinus Delphis, Spankin Records and Le Plug Rouge, – not to mention his latest venture: Who Killed Disco?.
