‘Hola Coco:’ The Coconut Hair-Mask Business, – Launched By A Couple From Manchester.

Hola Coco was established in March 2017 by a Manchester-based couple, named Sophie Leah and Gareth Thompson. Sophie’s hair was left brittle and dry due after using Roaccutane for her acne. The pair then found a manufacturer to create their solution: a Coconut Oil Hair Mask.

As well as coconut oil, the product also contains shea butter, – which penetrates the hair follicle with its moisturising properties, whilst adding intense softness, silky shine, and restoring damaged hair. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and paraben free, – their hair mask is suitable for all hair types, AND it comes in recyclable packaging.

Fast forward to 2021, and Hola Coco has gained thousands of loyal customers. More recently, they introduced two new products to their existing range: a 100% eco-friendly Bamboo Wide Tooth Comb (which works perfectly alongside the hair mask, – distributing it from root to tip), and their Hola Coco Microfiber Hair Towel, – for ultra-quick drying, and hair damage reduction.

Sophie said: “Creating Hola Coco has been a personal mission of mine, and the response so far has been so positive. To know that there are other people out there having the same issues I faced, and for them to describe our products as a ‘life-line’ is amazing. Our customers mean the world to us, and we’re looking to launch new products in August. They’re based on the feedback from the community we’ve built online.”

Hola Coco advises their customers to use their hair mask once or twice a week: wash and shampoo your hair first (as normal), and dry it after using their microfiber hair towel. Then, apply Hola Coco from your roots to your tips, and focus on dry ends using the Hola Coco Bamboo wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute the product. The gentle bamboo will help your hair to stay smooth and sleek, rather than adding fly-aways and frizz.

After leaving it to soak for 15 to 20 minutes, the mask can then be rinsed away, and for an intense reparative treatment, users can leave their hair mask on overnight, and shampoo it off the next morning.

In August, Hola Coco will launch their brand new eco-friendly Mulberry silk pillow cases, designed with soft fibres that don’t tug and damage hair strands. They’ll be available in white and champagne colours.

Prior to launching the business, Sophie worked in recruitment. She launched the business as a solution to her own personal hair-care struggle(s). Since launching, Hola Coco has been featured in the Daily Mail, the Manchester Evening News, and more.
