Bibevie: Chosen As A #SmallBiz100 4 Small Business Saturday

Bibevie (the Hertfordshire-based baby-clothes company) has been selected as a #SmallBiz100 for the ‘Small Business Saturday‘ campaign.

To celebrate, Bibevie has pledged to donate a percentage of their profits to charity on the day. They’re also running a giveaway, which they’ll be revealing on social media soon. As part of the campaign, Bibevie will be highlighted on social media on the 18th September, – as part of the 100-day countdown to Small Business Saturday UK.

Now in its ninth year in the UK, ‘Small Business Saturday’ celebrates small business success, whilst actively encouraging shoppers to ‘shop local,’ and support small businesses in their communities. This year, the campaign is calling upon the nation to share a ‘big thank you’ to the small firms who have played a vital role throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bibevie’s Founder, Rhian Thompson, said: “We are SO excited and proud to have been selected for #SmallBiz100 alongside 99 other amazing and inspiring small businesses. Small Business Saturday is an incredible campaign. It highlights the unique, special products and services that small businesses can offer to consumers, and it encourages more consumers to shop small, and to shop local.”

“We can’t wait to introduce our brand to more people, and for new customers to find out about our gorgeous, practical and ethical baby clothes with matching bibs. To celebrate our Small Biz 100 day on the 18th September, we’ll be donating a percentage of our profits to Little Village, a charity that does brilliant work to support families with children under 5 in need,” she added.

Small Business Saturday UK will return on the 4th December 2021, following a record-breaking success last year, which saw an estimated £1.1 billion spent with small businesses on the day itself. This year, ahead of the UN Climate Summit COP26 in Glasgow, the #SmallBiz100 features small firms with a passion for sustainability, to demonstrate the important part that small businesses are playing when it comes to tackling climate change.

Bibevie takes their commitment to sustainability very seriously: they make careful choices about their materials, reduce any unnecessary packaging where possible, and use biodegradable or compostable packaging, and they track their carbon emissions, enabling their customers to offset their emissions. They also run a recycling scheme, called ‘Gifted With Love.’

Michelle Ovens CBE, Small Business Saturday UK’s Director, said:

“Throughout the crisis, we have been reminded of the special role that small firms play in local areas: they look after their customers, communities, and the planet. We’re excited to be kicking off this year’s campaign to show our thanks to amazing small businesses like Bibevie. As firms recover from the challenges of the pandemic, we are calling upon everyone to get behind the campaign to make it our most impactful Small Business Saturday yet.”

Small Business Saturday is a grassroots-led, not-for-profit campaign, – originally founded by American Express in the U.S. in 2010. American Express is still the principal supporter of the campaign in the UK. On Small Business Saturday, customers across the UK are encouraged to go out and support all types of small businesses, both online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

The campaign attracts huge attention on the day itself, with an impact that lasts all year. Last year, the campaign trended at number one in the UK on Twitter, with the Prime Minister, the leader of the opposition, and the Mayor of London amongst those who publicly supported the campaign. Over 90% of local councils also supported the campaign. To get involved, click here: https://smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com

Bibevie is a planet-conscious babywear company that’s on a mission to solve the problem of dribble bibs that never stay(s) in place. Rhian has designed a unique range of outfits where the bib matches the design, and it safely clips in place, so it’s always where it needs to be. Their range comprises of 5 different bib designs (consisting of embroidered animal dungarees), – each featuring a hat print.

AND, you can mix and match across the whole range: when one bib becomes soiled, simply swap it out for another, and carry on with your day. The outfits are made from a gorgeous, soft blend of bamboo and organic cotton, which is gentle on the skin, and the trousers have inbuilt turn-ups, so that babies with little legs can still get their feet out, and look cool. Also, the crotch is poppered for easier nappy changes, and there’s a contrast popper, too.

The bibs come in three different sizes to ensure that your baby is comfortable and well-protected. There are extra buttons down the side for ease of changing, and the bib has a handy double layer, so the top layer is free for wiping your baby’s face, and the bottom layer holds the bib in place. It also comes with the handy effect of being moisture-absorbing, so your baby should stay dry all day.

Bibevie is a pending B-corp, too: they’ve made it a legal commitment to make purpose and people as important as profit, – doing everything they can to minimise their impact on the world: using compostable mailing bags, and eco-friendly wrapping.

Prior to launching Bibevie, Founder Rhian Thompson, – worked as a programme manager for one of the Big 4 accountancy firms. Her dream of started her own business started when her daughter was just 3 months old, back in 2019: Rhian’s new-born had dribble issues, – spending the first year of her life wearing a dribble bib. And this is where the idea was born.

Although Rhian incorporated the company in February 2020, the brand officially launched a year later, in June 2021, thanks to a hold-up caused by COVID-19. Already, the brand is flooded with orders, 5* feedback and repeat customers. And they’ve been featured in MyBaba, and in a Mini Music Makers session (with nearly 2,000 followers on Instagram).
