How Ben May’s Battle With MRSA Led Him To Launch ‘Skin Woof’

Find out how a sporty 28-year old, named Ben May’s battle with MRSA led him to launch a supplements business, called “Skin Woof.’ Read the full story below.

Ben (a former footballer, and a former merger and acquisitions analyst) went to hospital in 2015 for a routine knee operation, and he contracted the deadly superbug, MRSA. He spent 44 days in hospital, lost three stone, and faced the possible amputation of his leg. The illness left him with numerous skin conditions.

Ben from Haslemere, – contracted the highly-resistant bacterial infection when he was just 21 years old. He said: “Before I went into hospital, I was a regular fit and healthy 21 year old. I was at the top of my university’s football team, and the future was looking bright for me.”

“Everything I had at that point had been taken away from me: my good health, my ability to play sport, and my university degree, which I had to put on hold. It was an emotionally and mentally difficult time for myself and my family, and the lowest point in my life,” he added.

His final ligament reconstruction took place at Epsom Hospital in June 2016. It was here that the idea for his business, Skin Woof, started. Ben, who had previously been pursuing a career in banking, had gained a new perspective on life, and he decided to chase fulfilment, instead.

“One of the side-effects of all the antibiotics I was taking, was that I had developed green, blemish-covered skin, and it knocked my self-confidence. I tried skin care cream and solutions but nothing seemed to work. It wasn’t until I tried natural supplements that I started to get results. It was then that I decided I wanted to help others to regain their self-esteem, and inspire people who have gone through similar experiences,” said Ben.

The products have since gone on to help countless people.
