Dr.PAWPAW Receives Funding From HSBC To Keep Up With Demand.

Dr.PAWPAW (the international beauty brand) has received a £2 million funding package from HSBC UK, to keep up with rising demand across their product portfolio.

The funding will support the iconic beauty business to import greater levels of stock (to fulfil larger orders, and an increase in demand from both their UK and international customers).

The family-run business was founded in 2013, and champions sustainable and ethically-sourced ingredients across the entire product range. Dr.PAWPAW products include(s) multi-tasking balms for lips and skin, and a hair and body range. Dr.PAWPAW has benefitted greatly from the rise of the eco-conscious consumer.

Johnny Paterson (Dr.PAWPAW’s Managing Director) said: “The funding from HSBC UK will provide us with the financial backing to drive our growth plans, as we develop Dr.PAWPAW’s footprint in international markets, including China and the US. We’ve seen significant growth in recent years, and we aim to build on this momentum with the financial support and international reach of HSBC UK through our Relationship Manager at the bank, James Farrands.”

Sarah Milligan, HSBC’s UK Area Director for South East Business Banking, added: “We are delighted to support Dr.PAWPAW with its expansion plans and the development of its international presence. The increase in demand for Dr.PAWPAW’s sustainable offering speaks to the growing interest amongst consumers for eco-friendly products, a key element of current beauty industry trends.”

In recent years, Dr.PAWPAW has won endless categories in the Cosmopolitan, Pure Beauty, and ASOS Beauty awards. Johnny Paterson received the Great British Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2020, and Pauline Paterson received Highly Commended in the Inspiring Women in Business Awards 2021. The brand also donates a percentage of its profits each year to Teenage Cancer Trust as part of its wider philanthropic efforts.

Dr.PAWPAW’s Founders, Johnny and Pauline Paterson were inspired to launch the brand after discovering that pawpaw balms (the only thing that worked to soothe their young daughters’ eczema), – were increasingly hard to get a hold of in the UK.

After trying everything else on the market, doctors recommended strong steroid creams, which they didn’t want to use, so they decided to launch the UK’s first pawpaw balm, Dr.PAWPAW — using pawpaw (papaya fruit), aloe vera, and olive oil.

“We’ve seen first-hand the benefit of pawpaw as an ingredient, and we’re so confident in the results it delivers. The ultimate dream is that Dr.PAWPAW will become a global household brand that every family will benefit from,” said Johnny and Pauline Paterson.
