Bullards Spirits Announces Three New London Site Openings.

Bullards Spirits (the multi award-winning dry gin brand, hand-made in small batches) has announced THREE new London site openings: East, West and Central London.

Bullard’s first West London gin shop and tasting room has opened in Westfield London. Also, a Canary Wharf site has opened at Cabot Place West in Cabot Square. And last but not least, a flagship London site is set to open at 42 Market Building in Covent Garden.

The joint venture with Double Dutch mixers boasts a ground floor shop, and an additional upstairs tasting and mixology room. The bricks and mortar sites will allow guests to learn about the history of Bullards, and discover their range of luxury gins in an expertly-curated, full-sensory experience, provided FREE to ALL visitors, and led by talented brand ambassadors.

With customers seeking premium gin brands with unique stories, the number of UK distilleries has drastically increased in the past decade: from 160(ish) in 2013, to over 440 in 2020 (according to The Drinks Business). Adapting to the B2C market during the height of the pandemic, Bullards have been particularly innovative in this area, with their sustainable offering (eco-refill pouches, and bottles for life).

Joe Evans, a Business Development Manager at Bullards, said: “We are really excited to add three further sites to our portfolio. Visitors will soon be able to experience our unique concept in East, Central, and West London.”

Raissa de Haas, a Co-Founder at Double Dutch Drinks said: “We are super excited to team up with Bullards as they expand their retail presence right across London. We’ve developed some really delicious, flavourful pairings that we can’t wait for visitors to try as they do their Christmas shopping in the heart of Covent Garden!”

A market leader on the UK gin scene, Bullards was founded in 1837 by Richard Bullard. Spanning six generations, the brand went through a redesign in 2018. With immense pride and respect for its heritage, Bullards Spirits launched its new, beautiful packaging and modern branding, with the ‘Tipsy Anchor’ taking centre stage. The unique bottle shape is a nod to the iconic landmark chimney that stood proud over Norwich for over 100 years.

Having started his career as a Brand Manager with Grand Metropolitan (now Diageo), in 1985, Russell Evans’ clients included the likes of Budweiser, Fosters and Carlsberg. Whilst he was there, one client in particular was the Norwich Brewery, which owned a small beer brand called Bullards. In 1989, he decided to take a change of direction, so he went to work at one of the marketing agencies he used whilst still at Grand Metropolitan.

In 1991, Russell bought into the agency, and he rebranded it to ‘The Works.’ In 2011, Russell sold the business to his then business partner, and he looked for his next venture. In 2015, Russell Evans asked Heineken (who owned the Bullards assets at the time) if he could buy them, and £1,000 later – the deal was done!

Russell Evans has completely reignited the Bullards brand. Bullards continued to make beer, but they transitioned to a gin a few years later. Their first gin was their London Dry Gin, which won ‘best n the world’ in 2017, and since then, the Bullards gin brand has continued to grow, It now has four signature flavours and four gin-tasting shops, – the first of which opened in Norwich in December 2020.

Co-founded by twin sisters, Raissa and Joyce de Haas, Double Dutch is a premium drinks brand which provides a range of award-winning tonics and mixers that are both a refreshing soft drink, and a lively mixer to enhance all spirits. All flavours in the eleven-strong range are created through the process of molecular gastronomy, which results in unique, counter-intuitive, and delicious flavour combinations.

Joyce and Raissa have grown their London-based business to 44 countries around the world, including the US, their native Netherlands and Singapore, and they’ve recently started to trade in Spain and Austria. The brand also aims to become completely carbon neutral by 2022.
