ByRuby’s Founders, Ruby and Milly are passionate about good, in-season, ethically-sourced produce.

They work with some of Britain’s finest suppliers of free-range chicken, grass-fed beef, and sustainably-sourced fish, and their fresh vegetables and ingredients are sourced from New Covent Garden Market, before returning to the kitchen to form delicious dishes, which you can purchase and enjoy.

Ruby Bell (a Leith’s trained head chef) and her close friend and business partner Milly Bagot met whilst working together for the family-owned business, Finns of Chelsea, where Ruby was head chef.

The pair spotted a gap in the market for a healthier ready-made meal that would appeal to a wider audience, from mums, to health-conscious adults, to time-poor, career-driven types. They began to sample their creations with customers at Finns in 2017, before officially forming their business in 2018.

As a result, ByRuby now provides fifteen dishes, including Ruby’s Fish Pie, Grass Fed Beef Bourguignon and Free Range Coq au Vin, and a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, including Aubergine and Paneer Korma, Woodland Mushroom Risotto and Roasted Vegetable, and Spinach Lasagne.

“When I had my second baby, my sisters filled my freezer with nourishing and tasty food, and it was the best present ever. I thought ‘how nice would it be, to be able to do the same for my friends?’ Unfortunately, I didn’t trust any of the ready prepared meals on the market, so I decided to change that. By the time my third baby was born, ByRuby was up and running,” said ByRuby Milly.

In 2020, ByRuby ran a successful crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, which was overfunded.
