THESE Are The Wellness Trends That Are Set to Dominate 2022.

Innermost asked the experts, and dug into their own consumer data – to uncover the biggest trends and innovations set to dominate the wellness sector this 2022.

From ‘smart drugs’ for brain health, to a rise in ‘skin minimalism,’ the award-winning nutrition brand, Innermost – compiled data from a whopping 5,118 respondents (between the 1st January 2021, and the 11th November 2021) on their health and wellness habits this past year.

“This year is all about regaining what we lost last year, and for many, 2022 will change the way that we approach our physical and mental well-being,” said Shivraj Bassi, an industry insider, and the Founder of Innermost.

Trend 1: An Increased Desire For Immunity-Boosting Ingredients:

Unsurprisingly, immune health has been on the rise, and data shows that it will continue to do so. That means that we’ll most likely see a reinvigorated focus on fruits, vegetables, protein, probiotics, and nutritional supplements.

“According to our data, 69% of respondents rated their immunity as either “weak,” or just “OK,” said Shivraj. Yet despite this, over half (56%) ‘rarely,’ or ‘never’ take supplements. However, the good news is that 47% said that they were ‘keen’ or ‘curious’ to learn more about how supplements can support and improve their overall health and well-being.

Trend 2: Nootropics Or ‘Smart Drugs’ For Brain Health And Performance:

According to Innermost, there will be an amplified focus on brain health, with consumers turning to both nutrition and brain-training as a way to maintain and enhance their cognitive health and performance: “As we become more educated in this area, there is a generation more determined than ever to correctly fuel our body, to provide the brain with a constant supply of good nutrients,” added Shivraj.

This comes at a good time, as a shocking 75% of respondents said that they often struggle to concentrate during the day.

Trend 3: The Rise In ‘Skin Minimalism:’

It’s well-known that the skincare industry has been growing at breakneck speed over the last decade or so. However, there is a great deal of confusion and misinformation out there. As a result, many in the industry have noticed a trend towards consumers looking to reduce the complexity around their skincare routines, and to avoid the use of multiple heavy products that may be counterproductive.

Innermost believes that there will be more focus on creating skincare that incorporates nutrition, as well as topical products that look to address and prevent problems BEFORE they arise, i.e. prevention (see ‘Trend 5’ below).

Trend 4: Better Sleep Hygiene:

DID YOU KNOW that sleep affects almost ALL of our other bodily functions, from digestion, to mental function, to sexual health, and… to mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression?

Worryingly, a recent report from King’s College London suggested that an increased number of people are struggling with their sleep, following the onset of the pandemic. This is also supported by data collected by Innermost: almost half of respondents reported having troubles falling asleep.

It’s an area we can expect to see gain a lot of attention in 2022, as people look to find better ways to doze off, whether that’s by reducing their caffeine intake, avoiding blue light before bedtime, OR by using supplements.

Trend 5: Prevention VS Cure:

More people than ever are looking to improve their nutrition, exercise, and overall health as a preventative measure, rather than focusing their attention on an issue, once it has arisen.

Therefore, a focus on health and wellness coaching, and ensuring the right diet and nutritional supplements – are going to be increasingly more important to a broader demographic, especially in the wake of the pandemic, AND the realisation that better health goals are for everyone.

And to conclude, when asked ‘what best describes your health and wellness goal?,’ a small proportion of respondents (5%) reported that they simply wanted to look their best, whilst 38% said that they wanted to ‘feel healthier.’ Over half (56%) said they wanted to improve their fitness. It’s a positive indication that consumers are placing priority on their physical health and wellness over their aesthetic goals.

Launched in 2017, Innermost provides a range of science-backed nutritional supplements – packed with ingredients, which are sourced from nature that serve as wellness solutions to a wide range of health needs across the body and mind.
