Cheshire + Wain: Luxury Cat Products (For Fabulous Felines).

Launched in 2013 by a cat lover named Sonja Farrell, Cheshire & Wain has collaborated with STUDIOCANAL, AND caught the eye of multiple luxury department stores.

Sonja left her career at a London advertising agency, when a silver-spotted British short-hair kitten, Percy, entered her life.

Disappointed by what was on offer to accessorise and entertain her new feline friend, Sonja Founded the British, luxury cat lifestyle brand, Cheshire & Wain. Sonja commented: “As an avid Cat Lady with two wondrous British Shorthairs, I’d do just about anything for my cats. My main frustration was trying to find well-made leather cat collars that were also safe for cats to wear. All the leather collars that I came across had elastic, instead of the vet recommended breakaway catch. I wanted to change that.”

Launched through the Prince’s Trust, Sonja named the brand after two favourite cat world personalities: The Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland, and… the eccentric British cat artist, Louis Wain.

When Sonja started the business, luxury collars were made using elastic, with NO safety mechanisms. Sonja wanted to change this. As a result, Cheshire & Wain is the FIRST company to make leather cat collars with a breakaway safety catch.

Cheshire & Wain’s collection of beautiful luxury leather collars comes in an array of different hues, toys with personality, handmade ceramic bowls, stylish Cat Cloud® thermal cat beds, custom engraved ID tags, and luxe collar accessories. Sonja has set new standards in feline safety and style, with the innovative, high-visibility, Lumino Lux Reflective Cat Collar range.

The brand’s credentials as purveyors of luxury cat products for fancy felines, have led to interest from leading high-end department stores, including Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, and Selfridges.

Additionally, the company also caught the eye of STUDIOCANAL, who made Cheshire & Wain one of the key launch partners for the cinema release of The Electrical Life of Louis Wain, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy, and their latest project sees the brand move into the world of designer cat funiture with Round Haus, a multifunctional furniture family created in collaboration with fellow East London designer-makers Lozi Designs.

Sonja excitedly commented on the collaboration: “As an admirer of their beautifully crafted furniture, I got in touch with the founder of Lozi Designs, Soroush Pourhashemi back in 2019 with a simple question…Why can’t feline furniture be multifunctional, beautifully made and suitable for both cats and humans? Being a fellow cat lover, he wanted to create a solution to this too and from this, the partnership was born.”
