SLO ACTIVE: Premium, Sustainable Swimwear And Active-wear.

SLO ACTIVE is a premium, sustainable swimwear and active-wear brand, with a size-inclusive ocean-wear collection made from a material derived from castor beans.

This June, SLO ACTIVE released its long-anticipated second collection, which is on a mission to be their most size-inclusive, amphibious, and sustainable range yet.

With different coverage options (including bikinis, to the more modest options), the Retreat Collection has something for everybody. The collection of size-inclusive (S-5XL) products can be worn in water, and on land: it’s for the wild swimmers, the yogis, the surfers, the stand-up paddle-boarders, the holiday makers, the sustainable fashion advocates, and it’s for plus-size water women.

The range features yoga bikini bralettes and drawstring surf bottoms, elegant high leg-lines, surf suits that cover the bottom, a modest swimsuit for graceful sophistication, and functional surf/yoga leggings. Also, the pieces can be layered with other items from the Retreat Collection, paired with a swim/surf bonnet (head covering), and they compliment styles from SLO ACTIVE’s debut range, the Clean Lines collection.

SLO ACTIVE’s entire collection is made from bio-based polyamide, EVO – a stretch fabric made from castor beans with no impact on the food chain, that saves water. It’s lightweight, breathable, and form-flattering. Sourced from a plant, EVO fabric is an innovative, totally renewable resource.

The idea behind the Retreat Collection was to provide a wider range of styles and sizes, to cater to water women of different shapes, sizes, backgrounds and abilities,” said Janaya WIlkins, the Founder of SLO ACTIVE.

Prior to launching SLO Active, Janaya worked as a marketing communications director at a London agency, and she graduated with a Masters degree in marketing and innovation. She reached a point in her career where she wanted to do something she loved, and give back to the world.

The idea was to take something she was good at (marketing/creative), something she cared about (the ocean), and something she loved (high end luxury swimwear), before fusing it together under one brand in 2017: SLO ACTIVE.

Since then, the brand has won multiple awards, including the Drapers Sustainable Fashion Awards 2021, and 2020’s ‘One to Watch.’ SLO Active is also a proud member of the Plastic Pollution Coalition, and Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Communities.
