Wild And Game Raises Almost Half A Million £ In Crowdfunding

Wild And Game (a West Country-based brand that’s building the UK market for game meat) has raised an impressive £485,000 in its first ever equity crowd funder.

Launched in 2017, Wild and Game specialises in game meat (meats that are from non-domesticated, free-range, and farm-raised animals and birds).

The business has grown dramatically in the past two years. COVID-19 lock-downs increased the public appetite for food deliveries, and Wild and Game’s D2C (direct-to-customer) operation grew rapidly as a result. Thankfully, customers have stayed with the company post lock-down, increasing Wild’s revenue to £1m in the past six months.

Wild also supplies it’s products to independent food retailers and supermarkets across the UK.

Wild meat is increasingly seen as a sustainable alternative to intensively farmed meat. It’s also prized for its flavour and leanness. Recognising that many people are not used to cooking with game meat, Wild also sells pies, pasties, sausage rolls, charcuterie, and ready meals, as well as sausages, burgers, and ready-to-cook meat. The products are supplied frozen, making it possible to enjoy game meat all year round, not just in game season.

The new funding (raised in a month-long Crowdcube campaign) will be used to boost the company’s marketing efforts, and support its move to a new distribution centre in the West Country, enabling Wild to improve their delivery service, and provide Saturday and next day deliveries.

We’re delighted that our first ever fundraiser has far exceeded its target. This reflects the growing public appetite for game meat, which is fast gaining ground as an attractive and sustainable alternative to the meats you usually find in a supermarket,” said Wild And Game’s Co Founder, Steven Frampton.

Michael is a successful entrepreneur in the pub and brewing industry, and prior to launching Wild And Game, Steve specialised in the meat inspection and hygiene service sector.
