Òir: Gaelic Inspired Soap (Made From Natural Ingredients).

Òir‘s soap is made from cocoa butter + shea butter. The shea butter comes from a women’s cooperative in Ghana, which helps them to live a more independent life.

Launched in November 2021, Òir (pronounced as ‘oar,’ with ‘Òir’ meaning ‘gold’ in Gaelic) was founded by Jolene Roberts, as a nod to her Scottish roots.

Jolene makes the soaps from a studio in her converted garage. Prior to launching the business, she worked in the beauty and care industry. She was a nail technician for five years, before training as a special effects make up artist, which fueled her obsession for cosmetics.

“Like so many of us, I’ve become increasingly aware of my personal impact on the planet, but I also love luxury cosmetics, which is sometimes conflicting, yet I don’t think it needs to be,” said Jolene.

“I was conscious that I was using a lot of shower gel in plastic bottles, and I wanted a more sustainable option, so I learned how to make soap with a blend of super moisturising oils to create a real washing treat. It’s a great plastic free replacement for shower gel, and it looks beautiful next to any sink or bathtub,” said Jolene.

The soaps are available in the following scents: lemongrass, pink grapefruit, clary sage and rosemary, peppermint, lavender, patchouli and tea tree, rosemary, ho leaf and geranium, lemongrass and cinnamon, cedarwood, clary sage, rose geranium, and vetiver.
