Embellished Truth: Indian Inspired, Sustainable Accessories.

Embellished Truth was launched in 2008 – with an ambition to create beautiful, desirable products that use traditional craftsmanship, WITHOUT costing the earth.

Bharati Manchanda’s brand (and her designs) are Inspired by her Indian heritage, and her love for colour, print, and embellishment(s).

Each piece is designed to empower the wearer, whilst being functional and comfortable to wear and hold.

Embellished Truth sources and uses materials that are kinder to the skin, and to the planet.

The leather is tanned, without the use of heavy metals and harsh chemicals. The cotton is a hand-spun and handwoven organic khadi cotton that’s crafted by artisans who are working in cooperatives in rural villages in India, and the brass components are made from bombshell casings that have been leftover from wartime in Cambodia. Also, Embellished Truth is one of the first brands in the UK to use chrome-free leather in their collections.

Each bag is made in a family-run factory in East London in small batches and on a made-to-order basis. There’s also a zero-waste policy, with all leather off-cuts being used to make wrist cuffs, zip pulls, and jewellery.

Bharati Manchanda studied fashion design at University, and she gained experience as a designer for small brands, before launching Embellished Truth.

In 2012, Embellished Truth were shortlisted as a finalist for the Ethical Fashion Forum’s Innovation Award, and in 2013, we were given the Blue Butterfly positive mark of luxury by Positive Luxury. Another great achievement is with some of our high profile clients, with bags being owned by Emirati royalty, the Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, as well as samples requested by Beyonce’s stylist,” said Bharati Manchanda.
