Gentlemen’s Scrub Club: A Brand New Skincare Brand – For Men

Starting life during the COVID-19 lock-down, the Gentlemen’s Scrub Club launched its 3-step skincare routine in 2022, so that men can experience healthier skin.

“Ethics and sustainability…”

GSC (the Gentlemen’s Scrub Club) is a 100%-vegan, UK-made range – that uses natural and organic ingredients. The products are 93.4% biodegradable and compostable (including all packaging – which is made from 100% recycled plastic bottles). Also, GSC partners with Ecologi – to plant trees, and offset carbon.

The range includes three products that clean, cleanse, and hydrate: the Energising Face Wash, the Exfoliating Face Scrub, and the Original Moisturiser. The brand’s Co-Founder Laura Burton started to build the Gentlemen’s Scrub Club during the COVID-19 lock-down, because her partner Paul was struggling to find good men’s skincare products.

“He couldn’t find what he was looking for, and with his background in science, and my love of business, we decided to create our own,” said Laura.

Laura and Paul started to build the brand two months after Laura became pregnant with their son (whilst they were both working full time). Rather than give up on the vision, they continued to build on it throughout the pregnancy.

Laura has three first class degrees in Business, Marketing, and HR, and she spent over a decade working in reward, engagement, and performance – for global scientific and manufacturing companies. Paul has a BSc in Biochemistry. He spent fifteen years in pharmaceutical and healthcare products.

“I want to help men to have more confidence in a simple and effective way, without damaging the planet. The men’s personal care market needs a lot of work. We need more choice, more ethical brands, and a celebration that men like to look after themselves too,” said Paul.

Laura was listed as one of the most inspirational female entrepreneurs of 2023 by f:Entrepreneur, a campaign run by Small Business Britain, for her contribution to GSC, and because of her mission to coach more female entrepreneurs. In 2022, GSC became a finalist in the Start Up Awards UK (the Midlands Series). Also, GSC donated a month’s worth of sales to the Ukraine Crisis appeal, as well as gifting sets to other charities.
