Foundervine Receives A £127K Investment From The Big Issue.

Big Issue Invest celebrated the female-led, award-winning social enterprise Foundervine on International Women’s Day 2023 by investing £127000 into the company.

The Big Issue has supported more than 5,000 diverse-led ventures to start and scale – through training, space, networks, and access to capital. Foundervine is their latest investment.

Izzy Obeng launched Foundervine to change the global face of entrepreneurship – by building outstanding programs that help entrepreneurs to build sustainable ventures, by solving the opportunity gap that exists. Izzy has been named as a Forbes’ 30 Under 30 – for Social Impact in Europe.

Since launching in 2018, Foundervine has partnered with private and public sector partners – to accelerate the growth of diverse-led ventures in Europe, by delivering accelerator programs in the UK that support early-stage companies – providing entrepreneurs from under-served communities with mentorship, training, and financial support.

The funding from Big Issue Invest will be used to invest in new and current staff at Foundervine, which will help the organisation to support even more people. Among the new hires – is a dedicated business development person to focus on making and closing deals in support of the senior leadership – enabling them to proactively partner with new organisations that support their vision.

Frustrated by a lack of diversity, Foundervine is on a mission to remove social barriers to entrepreneurship, by building the greatest network of digitally-enabled businesses in the world. Foundervine prides itself on its ability to plan and execute programs smoothly, as well as feeding its alumni into a permanent and closely-connected community – who meet regularly, attend learning sessions, share daily thoughts, ideas, connections, and opportunities, and more.

“We are so pleased to be able to support Foundervine to grow, to further their mission. Entrepreneurship is incredibly important for the UK economy, and there are too many barriers to equality for diverse business owners – with black business owners having a median turnover of just £25,000, compared to £35,000 for white business owners. Foundervine exists to put an end to this inequality,” said Big Issue Invest’s Investment Manager, Linda Wickstrom.

“Our team and our vision has been given a major boost through the funding provided by Big Issue Invest. Their trust in our work is truly priceless, and it’ll enable us to broaden our horizons and maximize our impact. In an era where support for diverse-led startups and entrepreneurs is ever more crucial, we are thankful for Big Issue Invest’s dedication to empower under-served individuals, and to create a more fair and resilient future,” said Foundervine’s Izzy.
