Blooming Heck… Plantable Cards – That Sprout Into Flowers!

Launched in 2021 by Emma Victoria Stokes, Blooming Heck is a plantable Birmingham-based card business, that vows to reduce plastic consumption and card wastage.

Each one of Blooming Heck’s cards, tags, notebooks, and notepads are zero-waste, and plastic-free.

Once used, the products can be planted – both indoors and out, to create a whole bloom of beautiful wildflowers, including lavender, wild chamomile, rudbeckia, corn poppies, daisies, and violets) which flourish particularly well in the Spring and Summer months.

Blooming Heck relies on recycled envelopes and compostable vegetable starch cellophane bags – to keep the cards protected. Emma launched the business – after spending much of the COVID-19 lock-down era, in her back garden.

Emma comes from a journalistic background, with experience in digital marketing, social media, and copy-writing. By day, she is a self-employed digital marketer, and by night, Blooming Heck is her main side hustle.

She also runs her own blog, which you can check out here: https://emmavictoriastokes.com.

“Since launching in 2021, I’ve sent out hundreds of orders to schools and independent shops, and we’re stocked in Birmingham Think Tank, Birmingham Museum, and in various other independent shops across the Midlands,” said Emma.

“I’m a one-woman band, juggling stock buying, invoicing, message creating, developing products, and I get to connect with so many incredible small businesses across Birmingham and the UK. Considering this is just a passion project – it’s slowly becoming a part time job, and I couldn’t be more grateful,” added Emma.
