Milky Plant: Homemade, Plant-Based Milk (In Just 3 Minutes).

Milky Plant = easy. Add your preferred ingredient to the blender, fill the water tank + wait three minutes for a litre of freshly-made, plant-based milk. Sorted.

To meet the growing demand for plant-based milk alternatives, Milky Plant is launching an innovative appliance – that allows you to create homemade plant-based milk – from a variety of nuts, seeds, cereals, and water.

Compared to store-bought alternatives (that often contain preservatives, emulsifiers, seed oils, and gums), Milky Plant is a truly natural, additive-free solution. By making your own milk at home, you can save 30-90% per serving – compared to ready-made plant-based milk.

In addition to cost savings, creating milk at home also helps to reduce the number of tetra pak containers that end up in landfills. With nearly 300,000 containers saved each year, the impact is significant – stretching from Central London to Milton Keynes (if lined up end-to-end).

“A few years ago, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol, and I wanted to make healthy changes to my diet. I quickly realized that supermarket-bought plant-based milks aren’t as natural or as healthy as they claimed to be. They’re high in saturated fats, additives, and preservatives,” said Milky Plant’s co-founder, Nadina Grigoras.

“The only way of making plant-based milk at home was very messy and time-intensive, so I set about creating my own appliance – to take the hard work out,” said Nadina.

Nadina Grigoras and Michael Kalu met at Queen Mary University of London. At the age of 19, their first business specialized in building apps and websites, before pivoting into the hospitality business, and soft-launching Milky Plant, in March 2022.

Milky Plant uses patent-pending technology – that strains out the pulp from the final milk – eliminating the need for messy blenders, cheese cloths, or nut bags.

The remaining pulp is stored in a convenient compartment at the front of the machine – nearly dry and ready for reuse in homemade granola, smoothie bowls, or even composting.

“Our mission is to make plant-based milk in minutes – without the fuss, with no additives, no mess, and in the greenest way possible. Every time you drink a glass of Milky Plant milk, you’ll know that it’s good for you, and for the planet,” said Milky Plant’s Founders, Nadina Grigoras and Micheal Adjovi Kalu.
