Meet The Sisters Behind The Premium Golden Spiced Rum, Étän.

FIVE SISTERS: Étän Rum (a premium golden spiced rum brand, that launched at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic) has made a rumarkable entrance into the rum market.

The masterminds behind this truly exceptional spirit – are five sisters: Laura (a GP), Briget (a trained barrister), Noella (the head of a science faculty), Caroline (a dentist), and Kareen (a chartered accountant), who drew inspiration from their Cameroonian heritage – to create a highly unique, award-winning product.

The sisters embarked on a journey of passion and dedication to craft Étän Rum. Despite being told that they should ‘focus on launching a gin brand,’ they ignored ALL external interference(s), by standing firm in their vision, and proudly defying expectations, to bring their love for spiced rum to life – with Étän.

“We are strong-minded, professional women, with an unbreakable family bond, who are determined to be successful. We always knew that Étän was something special, and we are proud to be surging ahead with a great concept, an amazing product, and big plans for the future,” said one of the five sisters, Briget Fosang.

The word, ‘Étän’ means “five” in Mungaka (the parents’ dialect from Bali-Nyonga, Cameroon), which beautifully reflects the sisters’ commitment to family, unity, and their African roots. The rum pays homage to the melting pot of ethnic cultures in Cameroon, as well as embodying the essence of their heritage.

Botanicals contribute to the rum’s exceptional flavour profile and distinctive golden colour, including fever grass, orange peel, cassia, vanilla, and ginger. The brand’s commitment to quality and innovation was rewarded with a Silver Award at the prestigious London Spirits Competition 2021.

Also, the product sold out before Christmas, following it’s TV debut – on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, when co-host Simon Rimmer described the product as “terrifyingly delicious.”
