The ZARAMIA AVA Story

ZARAMIA AVA is an ethical, contemporary Menswear and Womenswear fashion brand, with products that are sustainably produced with zero waste, are certified vegan and cruelty free, and are made with natural organic fabrics.

The brand also provides ‘made-to-order’ Menswear, Womenswear, and unisex products (and accessories) – all made from natural fabrics such as organic cotton, Irish linen and bamboo, all of which are fully biodegradable. They also also make limited edition prints, made from the dead stock end of roll fabrics from factories that would otherwise have gone to landfill.

Also, for every product sold, ZARAMIA AVA plants a tree with their partners over at the One Tree Planted Charity, which helps to reduce their carbon footprint, and helps the environment, too.

Once a customer has bought an item, the brand sends them a gift certificate and details of where their tree has been planted, and what causes it supports, such as forest fire recovery, planting trees where they’re needed the most, trees for chimpanzees, protecting the orca, the Amazon rainforest, or the national forests.

ZARAMIA AVA offer several ranges including:

  • Sustainable jewellery, by collaborating with a local artisans, produced with zero waste and recycled silver.
  • Art prints, designed by ZARAMIA AVA, and printed locally in Leeds on recycled paper, from de-inked post-consumer waste, which is FSC Certified.
  • An accessories range of organic bags which are printed with water-based vegan inks at a local printer in Leeds. Their bags are multipurpose clutch bags, and can be used for iPads, and makeup, etc.

Within this range, ZARAMIA AVA uses geometric designs to help support a variety of causes and donates a percentage of their profits to chosen charities, with their current ones being the Black Minds Matter UK Charity and the Coppafeel Breast Cancer Charity.

Founder Zara-Mia, who was born in Leeds, always wanted to alter her clothing (since a young age), as she could never find what she was looking for, and so she started to make her own garments, and people would enquire about where she had gotten them from, or if she could recreate those clothes again for them.

And after watching The True Cost documentary, she knew she could make a difference within fashion. Zara-Mia studied Art at college, which led her onto studying a Fashion Degree BA, resulting in the creation of her brand ZARAMIA AVA, back in 2013.

ZARAMIA AVA brand was also featured on The Apprentice Series 13, Episode 10 fashion task, and the team that picked the ZARAMIA AVA brand won.

The fashion label has been involved in various fashion shows that raise money for charities, such as Leeds Mind, the Leeds Rag Fashion Show, and was one of the few designers to get onto the CFE Leeds pioneer program stocked in Lamberts Yard.

Founder Zara-Mia proudly said: Be aware of your impact on this earth, your home, and try to make it a better place for future generations.’
