Ross Mendham IS BACK With A NEW Fashion Label: God of Design

God of Design specialises in bespoke, upcycled clothing. Each piece is cut and embellished using high end designer pieces – transforming them into wearable art.

The pieces are luxury, handmade, and completely unique.

Ross is best-known for his iconic and emotional appearance on Dragons’ Den, in which he received investment from Peter Jones for his other business, Barenaked Foods, which has since gone on to become a thriving business. However this time, he joins his partner Annabelle on another passion: fashion.

“Annabelle (my co-founder and partner) inspired me to start this business. We bounce off each other, and we help each other to reach our fullest potential. It’s been eight years since I appeared on Dragons’ Den, and I worked so hard to build a successful brand and business, but I forgot about my other passions in life in the process,” said Ross.

“Annabelle helped me to see those things, and to do a lot of inward thinking. I never thought I’d have another idea like Barenaked Foods. My mum said that it would come to me one day, and on January 6th, 2022 it did. I woke up at 5AM with that typical lightbulb moment,” added Ross.

As a teenager, Ross loved clothes, and in particular, he loved high-end pieces, but he couldn’t afford them, so he used to customise jackets, jeans and t-shirts from high street stores. And it was this passion that eventually led him to launch God of Design, a brand new fashion brand that upcycles and creates wearable art, using high end materials from genuine super brands.

This means that each piece is affordable and completely unique. However, instead of using his existing success to catapult the brand, Ross has decided to bootstrap it, and to do it the old skool way.

“I’m in the position where I could have injected lots of capital into the business, or raised investment, but I didn’t want that. I wanted the same drive and determination to succeed as when I started Barenaked Foods, and I love the process and excitement that a new start-up brings,” said Ross.

“Using the same business model as Barenaked Foods, I did everything myself. I built everything with Annabelle. I even created the logo and the website! I firmly believe that to have a successful business, you have to be involved in every single step, and completely immerse yourself,” he added.

Launching today on Friday 28th January, 2022, impressively, Ross has managed to convert his idea to launch stage in a staggering THREE WEEKS!

“I am extremely proud of starting God of Design. I went from an idea to a fully-fledged business which is ready-to-trade in just three weeks. I have the drive and the hunger to make God of Design a success, and I am looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us,” concluded Ross.

Prior to launching God of Design and Barenaked Foods, Ross has a slightly unusual back-story: he used to be a stripper for The Dreamboys. During his time with the male revue group, he was required to be constantly tanned, toned and ripped.

The only way he could achieve his body-weight targets for work, and as a competitive bodybuilder, was to cut out carbohydrates. Ross found weight loss ‘especially difficult,’ due to his love of pasta and rice. However after extensive research, he discovered konjac, a food crop grown across south-east Asia, and this was the start of Barenaked Foods.

As well as a successful appearance on Dragons’ Den and investment from Peter Jones, Barenaked Foods is now available to buy in Tesco, Waitrose, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Ocado and more. They’re also available internationally in Australia and in the Middle East, and they distribute over 50,000 packets of pasta per week.

Barenaked Foods has also caught the attention of celebrities and influencers, who now enjoy them as part of a balanced/restricted diet, or to aid their weight management plans.
