The Detective Society: Shaking Up The Immersive Games World.

Founded in 2020, The Detective Society is the brainchild of Dan Wiseman, Joe Mills, + Tristan Rogers. All three Founders have a background in escape room games.

The trio launched The Detective Society, because they wanted to develop their own escape room pub experience(s), but… COVID-19 happened.

Undaunted, the team pivoted: they adapted the games to be played at home, instead. And with people desperate for at home entertainment, this new format turned out to be a HUGE success. The Detective Society delivers “an immersive, narrative- driven world.” The games have been described as a ‘TV drama in a box.’

Tristan and Dan met at University whilst studying drama, and Joe has a background as a puzzle maker. Together, they each bring their own unique flair to the games. The games are episodic and immersive, and they can be played alone or in groups, giving new, aspiring detectives a chance to try their hand at being Sherlock Holmes.

“It’s been really fun making the transition from physical escape-rooms to tabletop games. We LOVE creating worlds for our players to explore at home. No one else is doing mystery games like this,” said The Detective Society’s Dan Wiseman.

We’re really excited about the future of The Detective Society. We’re starting to work with new partners to launch retail friendly versions of our games, as well as entirely new adventures! We’ve already solved some of the hurdles of Brexit by sorting customs-friendly shipping, but we want to expand further to reduce the costs for customers all over the world to purchase our games,” added Dan.

As well as an appearance on Dragons’ Den, The Detective Society has proved to be extremely popular amongst the public, with four Kickstarter campaigns raising £215,000, and with 20,000+ games sold across the world. The business has won a number of awards, including winning Best Mystery for The Sudden Silence of Timothy Lee, and the Bullseye Player’s Choice Award for The Cursed Exhibition at the 2021 Escape The Roomers Awards.

Their ambitions for the future involves creating more products and games, and developing new, strategic partnerships with other organisations to expand their reach.
