Twoodle Home Scents: From Kitchen Table To Bricks And Mortar

Tim Rundle-Wood started Twoodle (a natural and ethical scents business) in 2018 from his kitchen table. In 2020, they opened a bricks and mortar shop in London.

The initial concept behind Twoodle’s first permanent store (situation on 10 Cheshire Street in Shoreditch, London), was to have the front half of the store as a traditional shop, and the back half as a workshop (where customers can see the candles and the products being made by hand, for a more personalised experience).

Tim, who previously worked in retail management, started to blend essential oils to make natural scents, after his dog Henry almost died from inhalation toxicity, caused by a synthetic fragrance when he sniffed a reed diffuser.

We moved into a new flat, and to make it more homely, I purchased reed diffusers from the local supermarket, and I put one in each room. My dog Henry followed me around, and he was trying to get a sniff at what I was doing. So not thinking anything of it, I let Henry sniff the reed diffuser, and within seconds I knew something was wrong,” said Tim.

Following this experience, Tim set Twoodle up, to create hemp wax candles, natural diffusers, scented ornaments, bath bombs, and more. Each of Twoodle’s materials are Fairtrade, and every product is handmade in store. The brand prides itself on sourcing ingredients from across the planet, depending on where each specific plant material/essential oil is grown (for instance, Lavender from France, and Chamomile from Egypt).
