Hilltop (The Honey Brand) Announces Their B Corp Credentials

Since launching in 2011, Hilltop has been on a mission to make award-winning honey sustainably. They’re the first honey brand in the UK to gain a B Corp status.

Gaining a B Corporation certification requires a holistic review of a business’ social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Certification is based on the vision of creating a community of for-profit companies that are committed to redefining their definition of success in business.

Being awarded with a B Corp status underlines our commitment for being a force for good as well as for profit. We’re proud of what Hilltop has achieved in our journey so far, and we promise to keep doing our part to continue being a force for good – by making a meaningful impact in the industry,” said Hilltop’s Managing Director, Scott Davies.

Hilltop (the UK’s second largest honey brand) has been using their success as a force for good, by challenging standard business practices, and by championing new sustainable initiatives to help preserve the planet, whilst looking after those who need it most – by working with local charities, sports teams, and food banks.

Hilltop is a home-grown success story. Scott Davies (a beekeeper) started the business in his parents’ kitchen with a £5,000 overdraft in 2011.

The business was born at the family farm in Newtown – after Scott sustained a back injury, and was unable to return to his career in the building trade.

His parents purchased him his first hive for Christmas, which sparked his interest in bees and honey production, and from his back garden, Scott nurtured his first hive of bees, and handmade his first honey.

With a dramatic increase in the scale of production, Scott developed a network of trusted beekeepers all around the world, who he now works closely with – to bring customers fabulously tasting honey. Now, Hilltop proudly boasts two Great Taste Awards, their products are certified by the Soil Association, and they’re available in reusable glass jars of easy-squeeze PET recyclable bottles, as well as being a living wage employer, and a carbon neutral business.
