As part of the government’s Kickstart scheme, fast-growth baby and toddler food startup, Piccolo, has successfully secured the opportunity to offer high-quality job placements to young people.
Piccolo is continuing on its ‘social-change’ mission...
After recently donating 10,000 meals to families for Christmas, now with the National Skills Academy for Food & Drink (NSAFD) and the Food and Drink Federation (FDF), young people will have the chance to gain real industry experience and receive a wage during their job placement.
Piccolo is a Sunday Times Fast Track One to Watch. Founder, Cat put the brand forward after Rishi Sunak encouraged fast growth, scaling businesses to get involved in the scheme at the Fast Track 100 awards.
Their first cohort for participants will involve them learning critical skills at a profound time of change for British food businesses, as the company is facing Brexit and Covid-19 challenges, which of course, – is affecting the import and export of goods.
Despite the challenges this past year, Piccolo continues to thrive, having successfully pivoted in response to the Covid-19 crisis by setting up its own online ecommerce site and a personalised baby food subscription service.
The brand has been granted 14 kickstart positions to help support its’ plans to grow further still, with roles available in marketing and PR, sales and operations, as well as in customer service and web development.
Those who complete their 6-month placement will also gain a food and drink manufacturing ‘passport,’ which confirms their readiness to secure a job in the industry, as well as an employability programme delivered by Youth Employment UK.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the vital role of the food and drink industry in keeping the nation fed has taken centre stage and the sector has shown remarkable strength and resilience.
Cat, Founder of Piccolo proudly stated: “After becoming one of The Sunday Times’ Fast Track Ones to Watch, we’re thrilled to be offering young people the chance to gain experience working at an ambitious FMCG start up. It’s a fantastic opportunity to hone their skills and see first-hand how they can contribute to the success of a company.”
