Scandinavian Spirit, ‘Nuet Dry Aquavit’ – Launches In The UK

Nuet Dry Aquavit is the world’s first premium aquavit (a type of a distilled spirit that is principally produced in Scandinavia) to arrive on British soil.

To coincide with its arrival into the UK (the product launched in the UK on Friday the 7th of May 2021), Nuet is hosting an Urban Foraging event, – which launches on May 17th (a national holiday in Norway), – and will run until Sunday 23rd May at various partner venues across London.

Alongside this, Nuet has also partnered with several bars across the capital, including: Hide in Mayfair, the EKTE Nordic Kitchen in Bloomberg Arcade, the Scandi Kitchen in Fitzrovia, and more. Each partner bar will be serving special Nuet cocktails to commemorate the occasion, and those wishing to celebrate are encouraged to ‘forage’ for Nuet in London.

The brand is also commemorating Norway’s national holiday and the arrival of Nuet Dry Aquavit into the UK, – with a limited edition Nuet gift set (featuring a commemorative bottle, and Nuet branded glasses) available on 31 Dover from the 7th May onwards.

Nuet’s Founder, Morten Pharo Halle said:

Our mission at Nuet is to share Scandinavian moments with people all over the world through the best aquavit products ever made, and to really show the full potential of this quintessentially Scandi spirit. The fact that bars are again allowed to serve alcohol indoors in the UK on the very same day as Norwegians celebrate their national day is therefore a very happy coincidence for us, and we want to make the most of it by giving people in London a taste of Scandi living.”

Aquavit has been a Scandinavian tradition since its first recorded mention in 1531, – honouring Scandi innovation and history, whilst at the same time creating something truly unique, which is why the Founders – Morten, Benjamin, Johannes and Martin (all from the capital of Norway, Oslo), set about producing a spirit unlike the world has never seen before.

Morten previously worked in sales, whilst Johannes and Martin specialised in content creation and media management. Most of the partners had no prior experience of working in the spirits business, but they all shared the same vision of creating something truly unique that could be enjoyed around the world.

Whilst Johannes and Martin have been friends for years, the rest of the group were complete strangers, – brought together by their passion for quality, innovation, and all things Scandinavian.

Developed in Oslo over 8 months, and after more than 100 test distillings, Nuet Dry Aquavit has been especially designed to work with tonic, and in a dry martini. Nuet, which translates as ‘the now,’ – comprises of grapefruit peel and blackcurrant influences accompanying the traditional caraway, along with a fresh, smooth finish unlike any aquavit, or spirit on the market.

Nuet Dry Aquavit’s signature serve is a spritz: mix together ice, 4cl Nuet Dry Aquavit, 8cl cloudy lemonade and top with your choice of bubbles (prosecco, cava, crement or champagne). And gently mix together and garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a rosemary twig.

Despite being a young brand, founded in 2018, – Nuet are already making waves and they’re the first and only aquavit to ever win an award in the gin category of an international spirits competition.
