BU-Evolution: The Sustainable, Bamboo-Athleisure Brand: Powered By A World-Class Wellbeing Community + Platform

BU-Evolution is best-known for two things: 1. Their world-class community platform, – which provides virtual wellbeing classes (from a wide range of teachers globally), and: 2. Their ‘earth-friendly,’ sustainable, bamboo athleisure clothing range.

BU-Evolution produces their bamboo fibre-based clothing at a small, ethical production plant in the Himalayas in India (using a minimal amount of man-made materials). Bamboo is sustainable: it uses no pesticides, it’s generally softer than cotton, it comes with antimicrobial properties, it can help to regulate your body temperature, and it can help to absorb moisture from the body.

Their lightweight bamboo t-shirts have this slogan written on the back: “I am because of we,” – which was taken from the African saying “ubuntu.” Their product range also includes 100% organic bamboo Thai pants for men or women, and hand-made zafu’s (meditation/yoga cushions) filled with organic Buckwheat husks, plus more.

BU-evolution also plants one tree for the chimpanzees, – for each product sold in conjunction with the Jane Goodall Foundation, and One Tree Planted org.

The brand focuses solely on wellness, community, inclusivity, and diversity: for each item sold, they provide their clients with free, live online tutorials of Yoga, meditation, Qi-gong, nutritional advice, life coaching, and more, – led by a global community of teachers over Zoom.

BU-Evolution’s Founder, Anthony Abis, – wanted to create a community spirit, and to tie his clothing production knowledge in with the business. Having been a serial entrepreneur for 25 years, and after working in the sales industry, he felt as though he wasn’t following his true calling in life, and so he set about disrupting the wellbeing sector, – leading to the creation of BU-Evolution this year, in 2021.

Previously, he ran a corporate clothing company, and in 2011, he set up Wild Horse Clothing Ltd, – producing bamboo underwear for men, – supplying major chain stores, such as Fenwick’s, TK Maxx, and roughly 100 more independents.

“I wanted to come away from a novelty brand, and build something more in tune with with wellbeing, as the very nature of bamboo is: sustainability, moisture absorbing, anti-bacterial qualities, and eco-friendly,” said Anthony.

“Then in 2021 during lock-down, BU-Evolution was born: a lifestyle brand that with every purchase of our Athleisure-wear gives something back: so we plant one tree for the chimpanzees for each item sold in conjunction with The Jane Goodall Foundation, and One Tree Planted Org,” he added.
