Dr.PAWPAW: Pioneers of the Skincare Meets Cosmetic Movement
Dr.PAWPAW, as launched in 2013 by Johnny and Pauline Paterson, is a UK made and manufactured skincare and cosmetics brand. Dr.PAWPAW’s philosophy has always been to make inclusive beauty products.
Founders Johnny and Pauline Paterson were inspired to start the brand after discovering that pawpaw balms – the only thing that worked to soothe their young daughters’ eczema, were increasingly hard to get a hold of in the UK.
After trying everything else on the market, doctors recommended strong steroid creams, which they didn’t want to use, so they decided to launch the UK’s first pawpaw balm, Dr.PAWPAW — using pawpaw (papaya fruit), aloe vera and olive oil.

Essentially for us multi-tasking is at the heart of everything we create.
We’re busy parents ourselves, and we want to continue creating products that save people time, save families money and deliver the best results.
We’ve expanded into the make-up market with our tinted balms, the haircare market with our Everybody range and we are now beginning to delve further into the health market with our new Hand Health Kit and Multi-Purpose Sanitiser Spray.
We are advocates for clean beauty, and do not compromise on only using sustainable ingredients. We continue to be a Vegan and natural brand ensuring all our packaging is 100% recyclable.
We are also very proud of what we give back with a chosen charity every year.
Last year we partnered with Crisis to help end homelessness and donated a % of our total yearly sales. This year we are partnering with the Teenage Cancer Trust and creating a whole new product. Their Scrub & Nourish product has won awards for Best Vegan Innovation, Product of the year, Best ethical product and Best New Lip Product.
The Dr.PAWPAW Shea Butter Balm contains Shea Butter, sourced from The Ghanaian Women Project — who have developed an environmentally friendly, safe, socially equal and sustainable model to supply Shea Butter.
This model allows thousands of Ghanaian women to find a global market for tons of high quality, handcrafted Shea Butter.
To date, the brand has donated £18,000 to Crisis UK — their 2019/2020 charity partner. They’ve also donated 50,000 balms globally during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
This year also saw them launch in Ulta and leading pharmacy CVS, in the USA, as well as in Boots, in the UK.
