DAME has collaborated with medical engineers to design the world’s first reusable DAME Tampon Applicator.

100 billion period products are thrown away every year and they can’t be recycled and tampons applicators are a big part of this problem, with 1.3 billion disposable applicators thrown away each year in the UK, alone.

Start-up, DAME has decided that it’s time to bleed red, and think green. They’ve set out to tackle this problem head on, believing that women and the planet deserve better.

The DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator is sleek, simple-to-use and is easy to keep clean, giving you the convenience of a conventional applicator, but without any of the waste. Each time a woman switches to using a DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator, she’ll prevent approximately 12,000 single-use applicators from entering our oceans.

The DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator is crafted from BPA-free, medical-grade Mediprene^®, with inbuilt antimicrobial Sanipolymers^®that keeps the DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator hygienic – plus it is ergonomically designed for total comfort and fits seamlessly with all standard tampons, from lite to super plus.

The DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator will be available to buy from Selfridge’s, Sainsburys, Waitrose, Boots, or on their website.

Each DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator retails at GBP 24.99 and is accompanied by a sleek storage tin, zip travel wallet and 6 of DAME’s organic, toxin free tampons.

Founders Celia Pool and Alec Mills launched DAME brand back in 2015 with a desire to make periods a better experience. They started out by running a subscription service, delivering a range of high street period products to women across the UK, but they soon realised that they were only skirting around the real issues at stake.

Their DAME Reusable Tampon Applicator started in March 2018 thanks to a Kickstarter. Their campaign generated huge traction, exceeding its target in just 4 days, with backers from over 50 countries.

Prior to launching DAME, Celia Pool was a project manager at Sotheby’s, the international auction house, whilst Alec Mills left behind a job in wealth management in the City to co-found the brand with Celia.
