Carly From Beeutiful, Named As A ‘Top 100 Most Inspirational Female Founders’

Beeutiful’s Founder, Carly Hooper (from Fleet, Hampshire) – has been named as one of the ‘UK’s most 100 inspirational female entrepreneurs,’ by Small Business Britain’s ‘f:Entrepreneur’ ‘#ialso100’ campaign.

Carly, who founded the natural skincare brand, Beeutiful in 2013 – is being showcased alongside 99 other female entrepreneurs from across the UK, as part of the campaign’s recognition of the multi-achievements of women that have proved critical to society during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now in its’ fourth year, ‘f:Entrepreneur’ was launched in 2017 to highlight amazing female role models to help and inspire all small businesses, through content, stories and events. It particularly aims to showcase trailblazing female entrepreneurs that lead small businesses alongside a roster of other responsibilities, such as volunteering, mentoring and community support activities.

Carly was also called out for her work as training manager for her local beekeeping association, and being Chair of her son’s school PTA.

From beekeepers to PPE, to tech entrepreneurs, to pole-dance-enthusiasts, this year’s campaign celebrates inspiring and resilient female entrepreneurs that have flourished despite Covid-19, with many still growing or starting new ventures.

On being listed in the #ialso100, Carly said that she is “amazed and delighted to be listed alongside such inspirational women.

Both ‘f:Entrepreneur,’ and Small Business Britain were founded by Michelle Ovens CBE, who is also the director of Small Business Saturday UK.

“Congratulations to all the inspiring women chosen to join this year’s #ialso100,” said Michelle Ovens. “Despite the significant obstacles thrown at them in the last year, female entrepreneurship continues to grow and flourish. We need to continue, and increase, our support for these incredible women and celebrate their amazing strength and success in the face of huge challenges.

“We have seen so many women embracing change, generating and exploring new ideas, rallying around their communities and supporting their peers. This resilience is hugely valuable and will set them up for success as they will be at the very heart of the UK’s recovery.

Carly is a beekeeper, and through Beeutiful, she hand-makes 100% natural, award-winning skincare products – utilising beeswax and honey. The company predominantly focuses on balms and butters.

All of their ingredients are chosen for their therapeutic properties, and the brand does not make cream, to avoid using preservatives (which many people can be intolerant to). Beeutiful’s products are best suited to those with sensitive skin, and those with skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.

Carly started beekeeping as a hobby in early 2012, but she quickly became completely immersed in learning about bees and was fascinated with how beeswax and honey has been used in skincare since Cleopatra bathed in milk and honey.

When she read that honey had been used in WW1 on wounds, she wanted to follow suit, which happened at the perfect time, as she was bored with her job marking essays for a University, and her eldest child is disabled, and so she wanted to spend more time at home.

The brand is now available online, and is stocked in over 20 stores around the UK. They also won a Theo Paphitis Small Business Sunday award, and she was honoured to represent him and the SBS team at the Autumn Fair in 2019.
