British curly hair girl brand, ‘Olew’, is taking the market by storm. The brand TRIPLED their orders during lockdown, with UK women embracing their natural hair more than ever.

The Olew curly hair collection has helped thousands of women and girls to embrace their natural hair with ease and confidence. Their loyal and growing social media and consumer following has resulted in their products being referred to as ‘liquid gold.’

Starting with a £100 start-up budget in her kitchen in May 2018, to a thriving business that tripled its’ turnover in 2020, Founder Elinor Davies-Farn has become the latest ‘curltepeneur’ to capture the natural, curly girl hair market.

Prior to starting Olew, she used to work as an account manager at BMW and at Mini before starting her own business.

After years of straightening her hair, Elinor ditched her straighteners in 2012, and decided to fully embrace her natural hair. She recalls ‘not liking’ her own curls growing up and was forced to straighten her hair, and due to a lack of self-confidence and a pressure to conform, this carried on for years, until Elinor decided to stop for once and for all.

However, a few years into her curly hair journey, whilst working at her first Job in London, Elinor was pulled aside and was suggested that she should wear her hair straight, as it looked ‘smarter’ in a corporate environment. And so, the idea to create a new curly hair brand was born, ‘to give women the confidence to wear their hair naturally,’ said founder Elinor.

Coupled with her own experience, and her own frustration at the lack of natural hair care products available on the market and through extensive research, Elinor found that most products aimed at curls contained chemicals and preservatives that could be detrimental to curl health.

The Olew product range is proudly manufactured together with a Chartered Scientist and Chemist with over 25 years of experience in the cosmetic industry and is packaged in the UK.
